Claims for judicial review must generally be filed promptly and in any event within three months of the decision under challenge. 'Promptly' is not a softener of the three-month outer limit; in some contexts it shortens it.
A common difficulty is identifying the decision date when there has been a chain of correspondence, an internal review, or a refusal to reconsider. Getting that wrong can lose the claim before the merits are ever argued.
